At Elk Valley Gymnastics Club, our mission is to inspire and empower athletes of all ages and abilities through the sport of gymnastics. We are committed to providing a safe, inclusive, and encouraging environment that promotes physical fitness, confidence, discipline, and a lifelong love of movement. Through high-quality coaching, positive mentorship, and community engagement, we aim to support every athlete in reaching their personal potential—on and off the gym floor.
Gymnastics is a foundation sport that will help develop physical abilities such as balance, coordination, strength, spatial awareness, and flexibility- all of which can be translated to other sports. The sport of Gymnastics also helps develop character traits such as resiliency, bravery, discipline and perseverance.
Our club currently represents children from all towns in the Elk Valley including, Baynes lake, Jaffrey and Elko.
Our story starts back in 2016 in the Max Turk Library with a few classes and a dream of building a gymnasts club. In 2017 we were able to move to our current location and expand our class sizes, coaching staff and our variety of classes. In the last 8 years our recreation sessions average 200 kids, our competitive team has expanded to 70 athletes that have been able to compete all over the Kootenays, Kalispell and Alberta.
We have attended the BC Provincial Championships for the last 4 years and in 2024 we had our very first Athlete Evalynn Fowler attend the BC Winter Games.
After 8 years in our current gym our next adventure is to find our forever home, a large facility that can hold our ever expanding membership, training times and variety of classes.
Why We Are Looking for Our Forever Home
Elk Valley Gymnastics Club has proudly served the Elk Valley community for years, fostering growth, confidence, and a love for movement in children and youth through the sport of gymnastics. As our programs and membership continue to grow, so does our need for a dedicated, permanent and large enough space to call home.
Currently operating in our rented space, we face limitations that impact our ability to offer consistent programming, expand class offerings, and invest in long-term equipment and facility improvements. These constraints affect both our athletes’ progress and our ability to meet the increasing demand from families in the region.
A forever home would allow us to:
Provide a stable and consistent training environment for athletes at all levels
Provide the dedicated training space and specialized equipment necessary for our competitive athletes to safely progress through higher-level skills and routines, meeting the standards required for competitive gymnastics development.
Expand our programming to include more age groups, skill levels, and inclusive opportunities
Invest in permanent, high-quality equipment and safety features
Host competitions, events, and camps that support regional athletic development and tourism
Strengthen our role as a community hub for physical activity, youth development, and volunteerism
Allow space to create cross training with other community sports teams and groups
We are committed to building a sustainable future for gymnastics in the Elk Valley and believe that a permanent facility is essential to achieving our long-term goals. Our forever home will be a legacy for generations of athletes to come—a place where every child can discover their strength, their potential, and their community.
