Summer Camp Leader 

Job Overview:

Elk Valley Gymnastics is looking for an energetic camp leader for its summer programs. Camps are a mix of gymnastics, field trips to local parks, games and art activities. Gymnastics knowledge is an asset but not required.

As a Summer Camp Leader, you will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating various activities at a summer camp aimed at preschoolers and children. Your primary goal is to ensure the safety, well-being, and enjoyment of all camp participants while fostering a positive and inclusive and fun camp environment. This role requires strong leadership skills, creativity, adaptability, and a passion for working with children.

Responsibilities:

    • Program Planning and Implementation

    • Develop and implement age-appropriate activities, games, and circuits

    • Coordinate daily schedules and ensure smooth transitions between activities.

    • Facilitate team-building exercises, sports activities, arts and crafts, nature walks, and other recreational programs.


    • Safety and Supervision

    • Maintain a safe and secure environment for all campers, staff, and volunteers.

    • Enforce camp rules and procedures to ensure the well-being of participants.

    • Provide first aid and emergency response as needed and ensure proper documentation of any incidents.


    • Leadership 

    • Serve as a positive role model for campers and encourage personal growth and character development.


    • Communication and Collaboration:

    • Communicate effectively with camp staff, parents, and campers to address concerns, provide updates, and gather feedback.

    • Collaborate with camp leaders and administrators to coordinate resources, resolve issues, and ensure the overall success of the program.


    • Administrative Tasks:

    • Maintain accurate records of attendance, incident reports, and other necessary documentation.

    • Assist with logistical tasks such as facility maintenance, and meal supervision.

    • Participate in staff meetings, and training sessions as required.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working with children in a camp, school, or recreational setting is preferred.

  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate others.

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and adapt to changing situations in a fast-paced environment.

  • Certification in CPR and First Aid is an asset

  • Knowledge of outdoor recreational activities, arts and crafts, and team-building exercises.

  • Must pass a  Vulnerable Sector background check and meet any other requirements mandated by local regulations.

The role of Summer Camp Leader often involves working both in the gym and outdoors during field trips. It may also require physical activity such as participating in recreational games and sports. The position is for our summer weeks of camp with a possibility to continue into the Fall and Winter.

Must be 18+
Compensation will be based on experience and availibility. $18.00 - $20.00 an hour
Summer Camps run through the summer from July 8th - Aug 30th
